Brazil is the largest coffee producing country in the world. The quality of coffee from Brazil varies greatly, from cheap grocery store, can packaged coffee, to very fine specialty coffee beans. Brazil's hot, humid climate offers the perfect environment for growing coffee, yet the altitude is somewhat lower for coffee growing than that of other countries. Brazil coffee is grown between 2000 ft. and 4000 ft. above sea level. This lower altitude creates a lower acid content in the coffee bean. Many of the premium coffees from Brazil come from smaller farms and estates. Larger farms tend to produce much of the mass-harvested, lower grade coffees used in grocery store coffees.
