Chocolate has been around since 1100 B.C., thought to have originated as a drink in Central and South America. Today, most of the chocolate is produced in Africa, but consumed worldwide. Chocolate is derived from the cacao tree, grown in tropical climates. The beans produced by the cacao tree are fermented and ultimately ground into cocoa for use in several forms.
